Talented, confident, passionate and energetic are just a few words to describe multi-talented grammy nominated singer/songwriter and producer Goldenchyl / GC (aka Andre Fennell). The emerging young artist aims to propel pop culture/reggae music into a bold new era beyond what’s heard today.
Hailed as "a breath of fresh air for the reggae music industry", GC is already staking his claim as a creative force to reckon with proving that he's more than capable of staying one step ahead of the competition. Besides from producing songs of his own such as "Believer", GC has written, produced and/or remixed records multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning artist Shaggy producing and co-writing on his 2007 LP entitled "Intoxication", such records as "Church Heathen", "Intoxication", "Can't Hold Me", "More Woman", Intoxication debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Album chart last year, and has re-entered the chart at number 15. GC was also given the opportunity to contribute as writer on the UEFA Euro Project Trix and Flix "Feel the Rush" Featuring Shaggy. “Feel the Rush” is currently showing up on several major pop music charts across Europe, and has managed to ascend to number one on the pop music charts and earning a Gold status in Germany.
GC has also managed to produce Elephant Man's 2007 VP/Bad Boy Records first single "Five O" featuring Wyclef Jean and P Diddy as well as the second single "Feel the Steam" Feat. Chris Brown. He has recently appeared as a featured vocalist on the "Formula Projects" second LP entitled "Evolve" featuring the single "Shine Again" Feat. KRS One. GC has also appeared as featured artist on up-and-coming solo artist Ali Vegas 2008 scheduled release "Generation Gap", GC has also managed to position his first single “Believer” to be released on a compilation album entitled “Future of Reggae Vol. 1” presented by American actress, model, fashion designer and spokeswoman “Mena Suvari” who is best known for her supporting role in the Academy Award-winning film American Beauty (1999).
Heavily influenced by legends like Bob Marley, Quincy Jones, and contemporary innovators like Timberland and Dr. Dre, Goldenchyl has crafted a dynamic, forward-thinking sound melding reggae and dancehall with contagious pop melodies, up-tempo hip hop-flavored grooves and sophisticated, soulful production that reflects his diverse roots - from his humble upbringing on the streets of Port more, Jamaica to the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural global village of Queens, NY (where he currently resides). As a lyricist, GC shines like no other. A rhythmic linchpin and skilled storyteller, his vivid insightful songs are laced with inspiring, poetic, raw, and sometimes, raunchy lyrics based on his true life experiences. "My lyrics are honest, not fabricated" he explains. "Either I lived it or I've seen it. I think that's what people relate to and connect with the most.
